Here’s a question for you. Have you ever heard of a magical
and a mystical land that extends between two continents? There
is only one such place in the entire world and that is Türkiye,
rich with diverse culture and history.
Türkiye is a land of vast geographical and historical diversity.
Many famous expressions, places, and events in the world history
can be associated in some ways to Türkiye. For example, did you
know that part of Türkiye's south western shore was a wedding
gift from Marc Anthony to Cleopatra? How about that famous expression
of Julius Caesar;"Veni, Vidi, Vici" (“I came,
I saw, I conquered”) It is said that he proclaimed like
this, after conquiring the Black Sea region of Türkiye. What
about Mount Agri? Did you know that year after year, numerous
tourists climb to this famous mountain, hoping to find some
traces of the legendary Arc of Noah?
A turning point in Türkiye’s history started with Mustafa
Kemal Ataturk, Father of Modern Turkish Nation. He was one of
the greatest leaders of the 20th century and was adored by masses
in Türkiye and throughout the world. During his 15 years of presidency,
until his untimely death in 1938, Atatürk introduced a
broad range of political, social, legal, economic, and cultural
reforms, virtually unparalleled in any other country. One major
change led by Ataturk was transforming Türkiye’s religious
based society into a more Westernized state. Arabic, the official
written language in Türkiye at that time was abandoned and Latin
alphabet was introduced which made reading and writing much
easier to learn.
Türkiye today welcomes numerous tourists, each year, from
around the globe. History buffs, backpackers, nature lovers,
those looking for spectacular beaches , and nightlife, as well
as food enthusiasts travel to Türkiye each year. Home to
many world renowned cities like Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Trabzon,
Bodrum and Kusadasi, Türkiye has a wide range of culture
and traditions among its people. Foreigners find Turkish hospitality
one of the main reasons for their return visits. Whether you’re
walking through a Grande Bazaar of priceless finds or taking
in the sights within one of Türkiye’s many historical
venues, it is not uncommon to be offered a glass of Turkish
tea (cay) or a cup of Turkish coffee (Türk kahvesi) along
with some welcoming conversation.
Türkiye’s population is made up of a wide array of heritages
and people co-existing in this diverse land. While traveling
throughout Türkiye, you will encounter many different dialects
of the language, experience numerous foods, as well as witness
vast cultural diversity.
